The above is a picture of my cat Kissi. Yes I wanted to be cool and different by spelling her name differently. Aren't we special. The poor thing oddly started growin mats down the middle of her back. Probably because she can't reach her back to groom her self and the fact that I've never brushed her. I'm not a bad owner! She's an indoor cat so she never gets dirty.
Its hard to see but she had about 4 different little patches of matted up fur. They got really bad down at the root. I could tell the area around the mats were started to hurt and get sore because if you were to touch it she would meow like GET OFF ME! So I figured it was about time she got a haircut. My first thought was to take her to specialist who would shave a line down her back, haha how funny would that look. My dad insisted though that it was a waste of money and we could do it ourselves. Oh man I was expecting the worst. Kissi is a very finicky cat, its rare to hold her for more than 2 minutes. I expected her to wriggle around and claw me to death.
We got out an old pair of hair cutting scissors, at first I was going to be the one doing the chopping but I was scared I would hurt her so I made my dad do it while a held her. I got a good grip on her and he started cutting away from the bottom. I was surprised, she sat so well, completely still. We were able to free her of her mats, YAY! and now she looks like happy kitty again, except with a patchy haircut on her back.
Voila a clean back~
